The sixth meeting of the PLEAS Task Force discussed the principles, ideas, and proposals that will go into the the Task Force Report, due early in 2007. Members discussed key topics in small groups, reviewed the proposals we have developed to date, and where possible reached agreement on the main points to include in the report. Some areas for further work were also identified. The meeting also started the planning of the writing of the report, with members interested in drafting agreeing to meet later in October to draft the report outline and allocate writing tasks.View documents from 03/10/2006

The fifth meeting of the PLEAS Task Force received presentations from more public legal education projects and also heard from both NHS DirectOnline and from Community Legal Services Direct. The meeting also reviewed progress to date and discussed the issues the Task Force needs to pursue to complete its work. The fourth meeting of the PLEAS Task Force received reports from its working groups - Structure, Content, and Communications. The Structure group has continued to looking at organisational options for the future of PLE. The Content group continues to look at examples of PLE, with the aim of developing a better understanding of the different forms it can take. The DCA has agreed to fund research on this, and a specification was being drawn up at the time of the meeting. Members discussed the Task Force public reception at the House of Commons arranged for 22 June, and hosted formally by the Lord Chancellor. Preparations for this are well under way, and invites will be sent out soon. The Communications working group has reviewed and agreed arrangements for this event. Members also heard presentations from the Legal Services Research Centre about their recently published research 'Causes of Action(2)', and from the Financial Services Agency about their financial capability strategy.View documents from 10/05/2006

The third meeting of the PLEAS Task Force reviewed the progress of the two main working groups and the development of a communications plan. It was agreed that the Content group would now formulate research proposals and set in motion the process of getting these funded. The Structure group will continue to look at models of PLE organisation. A Communications Group was set up and will develop a communications plan. The Task Force decided on its first public event – a presentation at the House of Lords on 22 June 2006 - at which it is hoped the Lord Chancellor will speak.View documents from 15/03/2006

The second meeting of the PLEAS Task Force discussed the core definitions of public legal education, and began the process of deciding on the priorities and plans for its work. Two primary working groups were set up. The Content and Delivery Group took responsibility for reviewing the whole spectrum of PLE activities both here and abroad. The Structure Group will look at the future form of organisation that will best assist in the delivery and quality of public legal education.View documents from 30/01/2006
